It’s Innovation Day
Today is Innovation Day (although if the past year has shown us anything, it is that we should be thinking innovatively every day).
Over the last 12 months, the world has been forced to rapidly shift to a new normal. Although a lot of what has come out of this pandemic is tragic and detrimentally life-changing; one silver lining is the innovative and creative responses from businesses, and the exciting ways they have ensured their products and solutions remained relevant and meaningful in this new environment.
Companies have had to rapidly plan and drastically shift their entire business strategies, finding gaps to fill in this new market and discover new and innovative ways to connect people when we cannot be together. We have seen massive international events go virtual, retail stores produce masks and vodka companies switch up their recipe to offer hand sanitiser.
This surge of innovation came from working as a team, analysing the market and thinking outside of the box. This future-proof and proactive mindset should be one we stay in; not only when we are forced into when something drastic (…like an international pandemic) occurs.
This quote from an opinion piece written by Charles Sauer in the Washington Examiner summarises this perfectly, “At some point, COVID-19 will be under control, and we will again resume living at least semi-normal lives. However, the inventions that come out of the renaissance will be with us forever. We need to remember that and remember to celebrate inventors not just today, but also tomorrow.”

Happy Innovation Day, everyone!
